EUR 4.5 billion is the value of investment in the production of renewable hydrogen and ammonia planned to be certified by the leading technology integrator Hynfra in cooperation with TÜV SÜD. The companies have entered into a strategic, global agreement covering the certification by TÜV SÜD of Hynfra's projects in Poland, Portugal, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday, May 17, during the H2POLAND conference in Poznań. The companies will collaborate on new energy, decarbonisation, ammonia production, and hydrogen technology projects.
The cooperation will help Hynfra's clients comply with current and future EU regulations on renewable energy, which set sustainability criteria for biofuels, biomass fuels, as well as renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFONBOs), and recycled carbon fuels.
“The signing of the global cooperation agreement with TÜV SÜD gives Hynfra comfort that all our projects will satisfy the highest standards of sustainability certification. This will ensure long-term safety for the users of our installations in terms of maintenance of a renewable source of origin by the highest European standards, in conformity with the currently implemented directives, including RED II, but also with directives to be implemented in the future, such as RED III. We are very happy to have TÜV SÜD accompany us in our global green hydrogen and ammonia projects,” says Tomoho Umeda, CEO of Hynfra.
In turn, Mieczysław Obiedziński, CEO of TÜV SÜD Polska, emphasizes that the certification for green hydrogen and ammonia is of vital importance for the achievement of the decarbonization goals imposed by the European Union, and the scope of this certification will soon cover the entire supply and value chain. “We are glad that we will implement Hynfra's projects on a global level, but also in Poland, where the issue of energy security and independence from Russian hydrocarbons by switching to green energy is particularly important today,” Obiedziński adds.
The document was signed in the presence of Reiner Block, CEO of the Industry Service Division of TÜV SÜD. “The global nature of the contracts signed enables full utilization of the potential of TÜV SÜD experts practically all over the world. The agreement brings new quality to the extremely important subject of decarbonization and certification of origin of energy carriers,” Reiner Block noted.
TÜV SÜD is a partner in the areas of safety, quality, and sustainable development. For 150 years now, it has been providing its partners and clients with comprehensive testing, certification, auditing and verification services. Today, it represents over 24,500 employees in over 1,000 locations.
